Untitled (2022-23)
Untitled is a collaborative project between myself and photographer, Lily Anne Barton. Inspired by Erwin Wurm’s one minute sculptures and Franz Erhard Walter’s ‘activations’, we sought to explore the relationship between body, object, action and art. What does it mean to document ephemeral actions and consider them sculpture? What is the body’s role in influencing our perception of objects as functional or sculptural? Can we regard the body as a sculpture in its own right?
We responded to this series of questions through photography and performance - referencing the emergence and documentation of 60s performance art throughout.
